More than 130 people died after Morbi hanging bridge collapsed: Prime Minister Modi will visit the place
More than 130 people were killed while many are said to be injured after a hanging bridge collapsed in Machhu river in Gujarat's Morbi district on Sunday evening.
From the visuals getting viral in social media, it's clear that, few miscrants were trying hard to break the hanging bridge. Three people are still missing and rescue operations, which were carried out overnight, are underway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Morbi bridge collapse site on Tuesday.
While the Gujarat government has announced an ex gratia of Rs.4 lakh to the kin of the deceased, PM Narendra Modi dedicated a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family of those killed in the mishap.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reached the collector's office in Morbi early this morning and got all details of matters including search operation, relief-rescue operation and treatment of the injured. He also gave necessary instructions to the officials.
